Rebate FAQs
Can I get a rebate for a home battery in Victoria?
Likely yes — eligible Victorian battery installs can access the federal home-battery discount, and Solar Victoria has run battery support programs. Whether the two can be combined depends on current program rules. We confirm exactly what applies to your address before quoting.
How much is the federal battery rebate?
It’s delivered as an upfront discount based on your battery’s usable capacity, under the national Cheaper Home Batteries program, and it steps down over time. We’ll show the exact figure for your chosen battery in your quote.
Do I have to claim the rebate myself?
No. The solar STC discount and the federal battery discount are assigned to the installer and shown as a price reduction on your system. Solar Victoria steps, where they apply, we handle as part of your application.
Can I combine the federal battery discount with Solar Victoria and solar STCs?
Solar STCs and the federal battery discount generally apply to the same install. Whether a Solar Victoria amount can be added on top depends on current program rules, which have included exclusivity conditions in the past.
Am I eligible if I rent, or already claimed a solar rebate before?
It depends on the program. Solar Victoria has applied owner-occupier rules, property-value and income caps, and one-rebate-per-property history. Tell us your situation and we’ll check it against current rules.
Do these rebates apply to commercial sites?
Some do, through different schemes — small-scale commercial solar can use STCs, larger systems use LGCs, and there are separate business programs. For a commercial site, book a commercial energy assessment.
Will the rebate amount change?
Yes — the certificate-based schemes step down on a set schedule, and Solar Victoria programs open and close in batches with changing amounts. That’s why we confirm the current figure at the time of your quote.
